What is Glyburide?
Brand Name(s): Diabeta; Glynase; Micronase
Glyburide is in a class of drugs called sulfonylureas. It is used to help control blood sugar levels.
Glyburide is used to treat noninsulin-dependent (Type II) diabetes mellitus (NIDDM) along with diet, exercise, and insulin therapy, if necessary.
Glyburide may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.
What side effects can this medication cause?
Common side effects from glyburide use:
bloating
heartburn
nausea
Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or do not go away:
headache
nasal congestion
runny nose
stomach pain
cough
diarrhea
If you experience any of the following symptoms, call your doctor immediately:
skin rash or hives
itching or redness
exaggerated sunburn
yellowing of the skin or eyes
light-colored stools
dark or clay-colored urine
unusual bleeding or bruising
fever
sore throat
