How does ABRAXANE work?
ABRAXANE contains the anticancer drug paclitaxel. Paclitaxel is one of the most potent anticancer drugs available. Paclitaxel is part of a family of chemotherapy drugs known as "taxanes." Taxanes, like paclitaxel, stop cancer cells from growing and dividing by interfering with certain cell structures. In this way, paclitaxel promotes cancer cell death. Paclitaxel can cause cancer tumor growth to slow or temporarily halt. Because ABRAXANE is solvent-free, a higher dose of paclitaxel can be administered, improving its effectiveness against the tumor.
